Paul Radford Scholarship Fund
The Paul Radford Scholarship Fund has been established by the members of California Community Credit Union Board of Directors in memory of volunteers who have made significant contributions to the success of your Credit Union. This scholarship was created to provide financial support for students in our community who have demonstrated academic excellence and involvement within the community
Award Amounts: $1,000 and $500
Awards: Recipients will attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school full time.
Application Dates: Applications for 2010 may be submitted between April 1 and August 6, 2010.
Award Dates: Scholarships for 2010 will be awarded August 2010.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be at least 17 years old and be a California Community member in good standing
- Only for graduating high school seniors or higher, proving academic achievement and financial need
- Provide verification of acceptance or enrollment in college
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrates commitment to community services
- Must start schooling before December 31 of the year the scholarship is awarded

- Proof of enrollment
- List of extracurricular activities, if any
- Essay (750 – 1250 words)
Your complete Scholarship Application Package must be received by 5:00 pm August 6, 2010. If any part of your package is received after this date, your application will not be considered. Packages may be submitted at any CACCU branch or mailed to:

ESSAY TOPICS: (Select one topic only)
Write a brief essay explaining the advantages of belonging to a credit union.
If your job was to provide financial services and products to your peers, what would you select to share with them, and why?
How have credit unions impacted the environment in either a positive or negative way?
Discuss the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and how this philosophy has impacted your life.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Academic achievement & financial need (25%)
- Community & extra-curricular activities (25%)
- Essay (50%)
Essays will be evaluated on content, spelling, grammar, and originality. The recipients selected for scholarship awards are at the sole decision of CACCU and its designated judges. The Scholarship Judging Committee will be comprised of two members of management and three volunteers from CACCU. The top three candidates may be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee. All decisions are final.
Grade Point Average (GPA) must be on official transcript with raised seal (no photo- copies accepted) and will not be calculated by Credit Union. Scholarship is payable to student and qualified institution.
Credit Union officers, volunteers, employees, and their families are not eligible. Winners will be notified before August 30, 2010 by mail or phone. Recipients agree that their name and picture may be published for publicity purposes. Not valid where prohibited by law.
